Jedną z odpowiedzi na to pytanie jest fakt, że 1965 rok był dla Beatlesów serią spotkań z innymi muzykami. W Nowym Jorku spotkali się z Bobem Dylanem, w Los Angeles z Elvisem Presleyem, a po drodze jeszcze z The Supremes. Wszyscy z zazdrością zerkali na ich dokonania, pośród których znalazło się wypełnienie Shea Stadium - w nowojorskim koncercie uczestniczyło rekordowe sześćdziesiąt tysięcy fanów!
Po powrocie do ojczyzny od razu weszli do studia nagrywać nowy album. Podczas pracy nad "Rubber Soul" dużo uwagi poświecono na mix, a nowe techniki nagrywania były tym, co pchnęło zespół w zupełnie nowe stylistycznie strony.
