Maria Kowalska w czasie II wojny światowej była jedną z czterdziestu żołnierek, na które wołano „kobiety pistolety”. Po upadku Powstania Warszawskiego trafiła do obozu koncentracyjnego Stutthof. Ocalała, uciekając z marszu śmierci. Po wielu dziesięcioleciach od tamtych wydarzeń dzieli się bolesnymi wspomnieniami z Wiktorem Krajewskim, autorem książki „Kobiety pistolety”.
